Permaculture Centre

A joint project of the US-based non-profit The Living Wisdom and Tri Hita Karana Bali in partnership with Pak Tjokorda Agung, the Centre exists to promote the continuation of traditional Balinese agricultural practices and unite them with sustainable technologies from the realm of permaculture.  It is a place where people of all ages, both Balinese and from across the globe, come together united by a love for the earth in educational programs of earth stewardship.

The Centre has an integrated waste management system with human and animal manures creating methane for biogas powered generators, stoves and water heaters.  The slurry from these systems feed worm farms that create aerobic compost.  All water is filtered with wastewater gardens and reused in toilets, the fresh water seafood pond, or to water gardens.  These waste management systems take problems and turn them into solutions, and are the focus of the educational programs.

Additionally the Centre is a base for outreach projects like eco-education programs for schools and villages.  These programmes focus on the creation of gardens, fruit tree orchards, and waste management systems that offer income for collecting and saving trash, as well as compost systems for organic waste.
